Today I picked up my fabulous friend Kate from Tysons Coner where she had an interview with Juicy (her dream job). My original plan for the day was to do errands. To my defense I did one: the bank (which was hell). I was in Bethesda, MD and was going to get lunch with Kate. We were aimlessly driving around while Kate informed me of how her… guy friend wouldn’t take her to this place called busboys and poets and she wanted to go. So i decided to take her on a date, abandon all my errands, and make the treck down to 14th and E street.

This is where the story catches. There is no 14th and E street, we found this out after an hour of hungry driving which by the way is very dangerous. I mean very dangerous, I almost hit a pedestrian. Although, he was jay walking. It finally occurred to me to have Kate call Busboys and Poets and find out what the deal was on the major lack of E street and 14th. So Busboys and Poets is on 14th and V street in NW DC.

We finally arrived at Busboys and Poets with a large appetite. I walked in and was absolutely floored. The ambiance was amazing, exactly what I would imagine for a place that is called Busboys and Poets. The flaming host even had a fashion mullet for christ sake. Kate sat on a couch (yes, I said couch) and I went to the bathroom which I would like to report is very clean. I got to walk through the bookstore to get to the bathroom. Get it busboys (restaurant) and poets (bookstore). They also do poetry readings and other stuff along the same lines. To find out all that stuff you can go to http://www.busboysandpoets.com and find out all about menu’s, bookstore, and poetry readings.

So, anyways, we sat down on the couches and ordered. As a side note if you ever go to this place make sure you get lower couches with a higher table, it made eating ackward the other way around. I ordered salmon and Kate ordered crab cakes. The prices were more than I expected but we did get two of the most expensive things on the menu. I would say the food would be in the same price range as an expensive deli prices. The food was nothing to complain about although my server was a little out of it. I can suck down some diet coke and I got only one refill. Food timing: fast as lightning. It was good food but nothing different from any other nice restaurant. They had a good variety to their menu, I noticed (good for someone with a lot of diet restrictions like me). Overall, you go to Busboys and Poets because of the exceptional surroundings. I am definitely going again, I will tell you that much. And I am pretty sure Kate is going to drag her…guy friend there pretty damn soon.
